I've been tagged by leslie of rubber-sol & happy loves rosie to tell you a few random things about myself.

I'm going to try my best to dig up some really off-beat things to make it interesting.
1. When I was younger I was completely taken by the fact that my siblings and I shared a common thread with the singer Madonna, being half French Canadian from our mother's side and half Italian from our Father.
2. When I was four years old my mother overheard me talking to myself in my bedroom one day and came in to check up on me. She sat down on the bed and I screamed "YOU JUST SAT ON MY FRIEND SALLY!!!". I don't think she was too thrilled to realize that I was talking about an imaginary friend. We played together until my first year of school, and then she disappeared. The strange thing is I can sort of remember what she looked like. White linen dress, blonde curls, bright red hair bow. When I got my first puppy at age 22, I payed homage to the gal by naming her Sally too.
3. The first time I ever met my husband was completely by happenstance. He had mistaken me for another girl that he had met and talked to earlier that evening. He said we were both wearing the exact same outfit and hair style (coiled up braided buns on each side of our heads). She was even wearing the same type of sunglasses. (What are the chances?) I could tell it wasn't just a line... because he was becoming so frustrated and confused that I kept ignoring him!
4. I never noticed this until I got married but I'm terrible about remembering to shut cabinet doors. Shawn comes home and loves teasing me about why all of the kitchen cabinets are open. I'm always in denial because I forget that I've done it naturally, then while we're both cracking up with laughter as he's closing them time and time again... I nonchalantly blame it on "the kitchen ghost".
5. I'm utterly fascinated by dreams, and their meanings. Awhile back I had one about a place that I didn't know existed, with unfamiliar architecture and painted symbols on the roofs. I got the chills recently when I stumbled on some vacation photographs on flickr of an ancient town called Alberobello in Italy with the exact same mystical presence. Strange but true.
6. Three of the best friends I ever had growing up all shared the same birthday, July 31. One in elementary school, one in highschool, and one in college. I think it's a really lucky date... and it's today! Happy Birthday Wishes to my fellow Leo's Harmony, Karen, and Pauline... I miss you.
7. I must come from a long line of hopeless romantics, here's some family folklore that's been passed down to me... My grandmother's side of the family (Capppelletti) is said to be linked to one of the Italian stories of Romeo & Juliet. One of the sources that Shakespeare adapted the story from was by Luigi da Porto. Which named the rival families as Montecchi and Cappelletti.
8. My hair started going prematurely gray when I was 20 years old in one bold streak up front where I part my hair. No hairdresser ever wants to mess with it anymore, despite all of my pleading to bleach it blonde. Over time though I've grown to like it. |
