This was the view from the rooftop of the Hotel Elliott here in Astoria, yesterday afternoon as I had the treat of hanging out with Alicia, her husband Andy, and her talented friend Shelly who drove up here from Portland for the day. We had unusually hot weather here, but we all were determined to brave the heat and have a little fun. You can't go wrong when you begin by sipping cold drinks at a cafe on the water, laughing over off-the-wall stories about a stuffed animal named Keiko and listening to creative ideas whir. The afternoon flew by so quickly, as the heat wore on it seemed like in just a blink of an eye it was already time for them to head back. Alicia captured the afternoon beautifully in her blog post today, it was such a treat to get to see everything we experienced yesterday through her eyes and thoughts. I'm crossing my fingers that they bring back the train that connects Astoria to Portland someday too, I've heard rumors. Could it be true?!

It was so hot though, I could barely lift my camera yesterday... but if you'd like to see more photos of Astoria and it's surrounding areas, you can check out my photostream on flickr called Exploring the North Coast.

After they headed out towards home, I spent the rest of the afternoon drinking tasty iced mochas hanging out with Wende on her front porch taking in the view of the Columbia River down below (total bliss!). I absolutely adore her son, who always shows me the coolest inventions when I come to visit. Yesterday it was a playing card shuffler, he'd made out of legos. Genius! Wende sent me home with a special treat for Freckles too (which he was eager to de-fluff as soon as I got home, good-bye clean house!).

Thanks so much for the wonderful day!
